Audience of One

The more we know God, the better equipped we become to serve Him with excellence. Serving God is an honor and a blessing in the highest order. When God is telling us to do something, we don’t take ownership of the task. We are just told to be co-workers with Him. We are the servants and He is the Master. He didn’t transfer the control to us; he needs to be in charge for us to prosper in everything we do.

We don’t need to worry about the outcome. It is up to Him. It is His project. It is His vision. We just attend to His will one day at a time. The question is not about the greatness of what we are called to do, but our faithfulness to our calling no matter how small our impact seems in our eyes. We need His grace to remember that it is by Him and through Him alone that we can apply ourselves to His causes. The goal needs to be crystal clear in our minds that it’s all for His glory. It is all about Him and not about us. We are simply thrilled to be used by the Creator of the heavens and earth.

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ Mathew 25:23 ESV

We need to scrutinize our motives as to why we are into His ministries. Ask the question up front: “What is in it for us?” What drives us to serve God in the first place? What motivates us to put all we have in the work we do? The right answer is to hear Him say: “good and faithful servant.” Who do we want to cheer us up? Only God! We need to keep our eyes up and move forward with the stewardship God has instilled in our hearts with a smile on our faces and His love in our hearts. Be encouraged in the Lord always and serve Him wholeheartedly.

God bless you, Brother Zelalem and Sister Elsa. I feel that this is a very timely message about serving in God's kingdom. We need to remember that it is God's ministry we are serving in, and that it's not our project. We should serve with thankful hearts for all that the Lord has done for us, and for being counted faithful to serve as His co-workers. This should motivate us to serve Him humbly and faithfully. May the Lord help us to remember this truth always.
