Deeper Walk With God

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

Deeper walk with God is not something we consider to be within our grab that we start getting comfortable about it. The more we get closer to God in our walk with Him, the more we need to be alert of all things that sidetrack us from staying centered in the Lord.

The reason for such careful watch is because the devil is staging an all out war to keep us from destroying the kingdom of darkness by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, he will do anything he can to distract us from our Lord so that he can keep us ineffective in the kingdom of the Lord even when he cannot destory us.  That is why we shouldn’t lose sight of our real and only enemy that seeks to devour us.

As we live a life of simple abundance in Christ Jesus, we need to be aware of this danger instead of becoming a victim of ignorance.  Unless we are alert, we can easily drift and fall for the devil’s trap regardless of our degree of commitment to the cause of Christ. Satan’s number one trap for those who choose a deeper walk with God is based on his craftiness to distract us from the beloved Lord.

The devil knows he cannot get to us as long as our eyes remain fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ.  Therefore, the evil one resorts to tactics to get us lose our focus on the Lord first and foremost.  A busyness here and there, for example, can easily accumulate to tip us out of balance from our path unless we remian vigilant.

The devil is a defeated foe.  We don’t need to get obsessed by him or be terrified of him, just be aware that he is there and stay alert in the things of the kingdom as we go about enjoying the abundant life in Christ Jesus. That way the devil doesn’t get a chance to decieve us so easily and so often.  Even when we stumble, the alertness help us to get back on track sooner than later.
